Gort, Helen Benson and Klaatu

Area 51, Roswell, New Mexico - 1951  This is Gort (the robot), Helen Benson and Klaatu (my favorite Martian) from the classic science fiction movie “The Day the Earth Stood Still”.  The most amazing thing about this excellent film is how well it has held up and how its message is just as true today as it was in the immediate post-Second World War years.  I have seen this black and white movie many times and it’s still one of my all-time favorites.
