King Simeon’s Palace

Madrid, Spain - July 1964  This is Boy George at the age of 8, in front of the entrance of King Simeon’s palace on a sunny day in Madrid.  I lived in this incredible mansion for an entire year!  During that time, I learned to speak Spanish, a language that’s certainly very useful in South Florida.  I had lots of fun at the palace: I used to play with the King’s children and his dogs, too.  I would go to the swimming pool there often.  The king himself would take me on fast rides in his Jaguar and Maserati sports cars, which was a real thrill for me.
